A Guide for Parents

Program Overview
Whether you have just learned that your child may have an Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) or you are a veteran parent when it comes to an ASD, Colorado Autism Center is your partner and resource for ensuring your child gets the help they deserve.

You will find down the left side of this page several links to information, resources, and support.  If you would prefer to speak with one of our staff members we would be happy to hear your story, answer any questions, and get you started in the right direction.

There is no one treatment for Autism, but rather many types of treatments you will need to choose from based on the needs of your child.  Some of these treatments are well researched and proven by the medical community to have a direct impact on the growth and development of children with Autism, others are new or experimental, and some treatments aren't recommended for all children.

What is more important is finding an Autism clinic or center that has highly trained and experienced staff members that can talk you through the treatment process.  This team should help guide you in determining what YOUR child needs, how to pay for those services, and support you and your family.  While there are many treatment providers, not all providers have the same training or experience.

If your child has Autism you should look for a program that includes:

  • Board Certified Behavior Therapists (BCBA/BCaBA)
  • Developmental Experts
  • Clinical Psychologists
  • Child Psychiatrists
  • Education Specialists
  • Dietary/Nutritional Consultants
  • Experienced Direct Care Clinicians
  • Family Support Services
  • Social Skills Program
